The moon hung high and full this night, its illumination spread to the roof tops of the village houses, the night was growing old and the lanterns placed on the city streets begun to extinguish. The streets were damp with a recent down pour of the cold winter rain. This night was calm, peaceful and still.

Beneath the watchful eyes of the moon a woman immersed from one of the alley ways, she seemed to be moving quite quickly yet did not disturb the peace of the village. She moved silently through the city centre, riding on the midnight wind.

She seemed to be gliding out of the town, and toward an old rusty wheat mill that had been out of business for several years. The mill was surrounded by shrubs, hidden away from prying eyes. Weeds and other plants over ran the factory; however the moonlight on this night had the power to transform anything into an image of beauty.

Just as she had left the town gates and was only meters from the mill, the wind changed, as too did the mood. A strange tense feeling rushed over the village, the silence became threatening as the woman’s speed intensified. She raised her hand to her lips, and released an ear piercing whistle into the midnight air, followed by loud thuds that could be heard from the roof tops of the sleepy little town.

She continued her mad dash to the old wheat mill yet the thudding roof tops seemed to follow her with severe speed. The woman sharply turned her head to look back at the small village that was quickly escaping her. Two dark animalistic figures where dancing on the roof tops, prancing from one to the other, following her blindly. “Come on or we will be late” she softly whispered to herself, only to then turn back with eyes fixed once more on the wheat mill.

The figures leaped from the rooftops into the moonlit sky only to be sucked back down to the outer areas of the village town. Their strong legs pumped them along the ground, breaking the muddy dirt as they ran.

The woman glided up to the rusty broken door of the wheat mill and stopped in her track, she seemed to peer into the building as if she was waiting for an event to unfold. The two shady figures were not far behind, and just like her they abruptly stopped to take their place beside the mystifying woman. “Invidia...Minerva, so nice of you to join me, cutting it a bit close this time don’t you think?” the woman stated to the two figures. The strange animals looked exactly the same; they both had sharp pointed ears and their fur was as black as the midnight sky. They had strong lengthy powerful legs, with piercing claws that could cut through steal; their tails were long and held down just below their legs. They had eyes like two deep pools of darkness, like onyx marbles. They were known as hell hounds, guarders of the underworld, and a reapers guardian.

Invidia was the hell hound of the Heavenly Attribute wisdom, while Minerva was the hell hound of Sins who represented the indulgence of Envy. “And the show begins” the woman stated in an uninterested manna.

This has a great mood, but I can't help feeling that there's just too much empty space throughout the piece - and a landscape is usually full of different kinds of textures. A few hints of clouds and the addition of texture in the the trees/mountains in the background might help that.

Also, I'd pay particular attention to perspective on both the gate and the building. Perspective makes relatively mundane objects more believable and interesting. Check out this stock image: [link]
See how dynamic that angle is? You can search for anything here on DA in the stock resources section to get ideas for great poses and realistic objects.

To mirror the wiry weather vane, I'd have done a great big wrought iron gate instead of a stone wall, but you could add something interesting on the wall to pull the viewer into the image... like something crawling up it, or some interesting cracks. That object is closest to us, so it'll be darker, as well.

I hope that helps!
